Colors That Never Made It to the Crayon Bin

When the kids and I are doing something tedious, say driving long distances or spackling sheetrock, we sometimes play little word games with each other. We recently made a trip out to Herkimer, NY, and played a game that is currently my favorite. We call it “Colors That Never Made It to the Crayon Bin.”

Here are some of the colors we concocted, what do you think? Would these be approved by the Crayon Powers That Be?

Roadkill Red

Fly Gut Green

Beaver Breath Brown

Bruise Blue

Pond Scum Green

Potash Purple

Plague Black

Bread Mold Blue

Tapeworm Taupe (Note: after looking for a photo for this one, I opted to spare you any graphic representations. *barf*)

Yukky Green

Barfaroni Orange

Barbie Pink

Poisoned Pumpkin

Oil Leak Rainbow

Puke Yellow

Houndstooth Gray

Hee hee. What colors can you think of? :smarty:

    Um, I like Roadkill Red and Barbie Pink, but the rest of them sound… AWFUL! I mean, the color ideas are great, but they make me not want to use those crayons. I don’t want to use Bread Mold Blue! 😀 Very creative, but I’m not sure Crayola would make much money off of these. 🙂

    I would love a crayon that colored like an oil leak rainbow ;D You left out ‘cat puke tan’ … yea, it’s been one of *those* mornings!

    Barfaroni Orange is definitely a must-have for drawing those Halloween scenes. It would go very well with Poisoned Pumpkin for creating those complimentary shadows.

    One they SHOULD have is Alien Fire Cat Orange. And it would be my color.

    Putrid Puce
    and
    Seafood Ochre

    These are much better than the old colors they used to have:

    Greenish orange
    Orangish green

    reddish blue

    Blueish red

    They lacked creativity when we were kids.

    Thanks, Don! We’ll add to our collection of virtual crayons in the the future, since we have loads more tedious spackling to do yet. So stay tuned!

    Jen- SO TRUE! Who were the uncreative slackers who named the crayons of old?? Gosh, we were so deprived as kids. I’m glad you like Bread Mold Blue; it made my son happy since he came up with that. lol
