Alright western fans, I’ve got some good news for you- the ENTIRE HBO series “Deadwood” is coming to DVD at a super duper low price! There’s a huge discount on the entire Deadwood series TODAY, February 3rd, at Amazon.com. It’s the Gold Box deal, and it is going to be showcased ONLY on Thursday, February 3rd. Don’t miss it!
I have not seen Deadwood yet, but I saw a trailer and it looks interesting. It’s been nominated for almost 2 dozen Emmys. I love gritty historical fiction! Believe it or not, I have a relation who was shot dead in a saloon in 1920 or so. He was a sheriff in a small gun-slinging town in Nebraska, back when the west was just dusty rows of wooden houses filled with bow-legged, be-gunned bad guys. My poor great-great-great uncle entered a saloon to stop some illegal gambling or some other crime, and he and his partner were shot dead.
The Nebraska police have a website devoted to men lost in action, and my g-g-g uncle is posted there with what happened!
Anyway, the wild west was just that, wild. Reviews for the Deadwood series have been very favorable. Apparently, HBO presents the show very realistically. The History Channel reported that many of the events and characters in the Deadwood shows were real people. Of course, there’s a lot of the typical Hollywood “creative license” in there. Huh, I wonder if my g-g-g uncle is in the series!! I wonder if the perpetrator was that dastardly Hoodoo Brown!
So if you have been salivating at your chance to grab the entire Deadwood series on DVD for a superior price, here’s your moment of opportunity. Remember, this deal is only good February 3rd. I think the series would also make a terrific gift for a western fan!
