I have been THIS close, peeps. VERY VERY CLOSE. I don’t think I would stab my new gadget with a Ronco Ginsu machete… but I’ve been preeeeeetty close. I have a honking big razor blade knife with snap-off blades (so it’s always sharp!) ready to roll whenever I come home with my new CD, lipstick, SD card, or bottle of aspirin. I AM READY.
:rollpin:
What is wrap rage, you ask? Here ya go:
Yeah.
I have been told that our packages are protected more than the gold in Fort Knox because the ship from China to America is, well, bouncy. And the seafaring stock boys aren’t exactly dainty with the boxes. Nay, they are more like postal employees on espresso, baby. So that’s the reason I’ve been told- manufacturers do it to maintain that the stuff inside the packages don’t shake around in the boxes. Uh huh.
The U.S. doesn’t keep statistics of all the people sent to emergency rooms and the grave while trying to open these nasty packages, but the UK estimates that almost 70,000 injuries occur there, from split fingers (oooooo beentheredonethat) to sprained joints. JUST TRYING TO OPEN THE BLASTED PACKAGE! :rants:
The problem is SO bad that Amazon.com offers a service where THEY will go beserk in your stead, as they unsnarl, untie, detangle, slice, dice, and crack open the packaging for you- and repackage everything into a sweetly taped cardboard box right to your door. They have a video explaining their “Frustration Free” packaging method. I don’t know if I would PAY to have this done…. I’d probably just make the kids do it, lol. They’re young, and need to get out their frustrations somehow.
So do you suffer from wrap rage?
By the way, if you’re giving a gift to a pal, do them a favor and consider opening the PACKAGE for them before wrapping it. Maybe even toss the gift in a cardboard box and tape it shut. Friends don’t let friends get wrap rage.

Nice! I was laughing all through that video! So funny! I used to have trouble opening all those packages, but I seem to have gotten the hang of it from practice! I am the official plastic-package opener of the house! Unfortunately… :D

Ohh, I have sooo been there!! I did get a little CD/DVD opening thing that helps with some of those packages, but I have had multiple cuts on my hands from those brutal boxes that come over packaged. Wonder if anyone has ever sued the manufactures for staff or other infections I am sure they have caused, maybe that would change how they wrap stuff.

I can so relate to that video… I had trouble with the packaging on my toothbrush heads last week, they were inside a carboard box but inside that they were sealed in that plastic stuff. I just whimpered and passed it to my husband to deal with. I feel quite proud at the thought that we in the UK actually keep statistics on the injury-rate of victims of plastic packaging - LOL! :O)

I usually just give it to the Mr. to unwrap. I could see me slicing through an artery in my neck or something trying to open a package.
