That would be me.
No, it’s not just the men who have severe handicaps when it comes to selecting gifts. Some of us women are plagued with it, too. Maybe it’s my upbringing. Parties and gifts were just never a big thing in the family. And with seven or eight of us in the immediate family, gift-giving could very easily bankrupt us into the next year, lol.
Gift cards came on the scene (big time, anyway) about twenty years ago or so, right? I love gift cards! They are great. There is something really nifty about being able to go to a store with “free” money to get what you need. I love it! And sometimes advertisers give me gift cards in appreciation for some work I’ve done for them. Gift cards are cool!
But when you are stuck with a gift card you don’t want.. what do you do? I’ve had a Talbot’s gift card for months, not know ing what to do with it. It’s not for a lot of money, and stuff at Talbot’s is pricey… so if I used the gift card, I would have to spend some of my own money on the item. And that goes against my frugalite grain, dear reader. The last thing I want to do is buy a useless (to me, anyway) fancy silk scarf for $50 so I can use my $20 gift card. :-p Not a gift, in my opinion. But I just can’t force myself to throw the gift card away… that would be wasteful!
This is where the beauty of FriendGiftr comes in. This website is actually very, very neat- At FriendGiftr, you can buy gift cards from more than 100 major retailers (everyone from Red Lobster to Applebees to CVS Pharmacy), and have FriendGiftr deliver the gift to your pal via social network (like iGoogle, My Space, Facebook, Bebo, etc). PLUS, and this is what I like, you can swap the gift card out for a different gift card! For example, let’s say I send a Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card out to Granny. FAIL. Granny has no use for sports equipment (my kind of Granny, anyway). Granny can go to FriendGiftr and swap her card for the same card amount for something she’d like better, such as a honking-blazing-fast-super-powered-Dell computer!! (THAT’s my kind of Granny!). FriendGiftr is nice like that.
Check it out, it’s a great way to give the “perfect” gift. You really cant go wrong. You can order gifts from the website, or from mobile devices such as iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android.
It’s so nice to know that there are some companies who care about us gift-giving challenged people…. :D

This is a great idea! I’m also gift idea challenged and everyone knows I’ll probably be giving them the dreaded gift certificate!
