Frugal Heaven: A Review of Buxr.com

Frugal, Reviews

I’ve been checking out Buxr.com for a few days, and finally decided to join the community there. Buxr is an online, bargain-basement Town Crier of sales, coupons, and hot deals circulating at stores throughout the Internet. Any store with a good coupon or something on sale is sure to be at Buxr. Buxr is kinda like the epicenter extraordinaire for us Frugal Hacks. They give new meaning to the word tightwad- they make it fun, popular, and lucrative! I’m really, really impressed! This is from their About Page:

We hate shopping but strangely enough we enjoy shopping online. Maybe it is because the feeling of spotting a hot deal is similar to the experience of a victory in a sports competition, and who doesn’t love to win?

Bargain hunting is our life time hobby (check the “Who is behind this” section below) and we have put the best of what we know about it into this project. Thank you for stopping by and we hope you will have fun exploring Buxr.

OK, down to the nitty-gritty: signing up to join the community is a breeze- username, password, email. Sign Up Page is here. An activation key is emailed, I type it in the register page, and BAM, I’m in. As a member, I can join discussions; customize my dashboard and add “modules”; I can view coupons and deals and sales at various stores online (although non-members can see these, too); and I can submit my own information about deals/coupons that I have found, and share them with the community. This is the beauty of Buxr, I think- sharing your own information can earn you money. For example, let’s say that I have a coupon code for Amazon.com- spend $12, get 99% off your next order (remember, this is an example, LOL). I submit it to the Buxr community. Other members can vote on how valuable my information is. If I get loads and loads of votes (as I am sure to get), I win a CASH prize for the day! Some people have made over $1,000, whoa!

Buxr also wisely has “coupon fraud” protection plan- moderators at the Buxr site check the coupons/deals that are submitted, before the information goes live. And, registered members vote on the deals, so if there is a dud or bad egg in the bunch, the votes will show it. (Oh, and voting also earns you money). So there is great incentive to submit good information and to vote on the information. I think it’s a brilliant scheme.

Buxr also has a spectacular and frequently updated Freebies Page. This is my favorite page. It’s great to know that being miserly is now popular! Heh heh…

OK, now: About the “Hot Deals” and other money-saving stuff- Buxr allows you to see the hottest deals for the day, but you can also browse around for deals and coupons (by category, by store, by free shipping, by Freebies, and even by popular vote). Very, very cool. Everything is SO organized and SO customizable it gives me undulating shivers of delight! This is FRUGAL HEAVEN, people!! ANYTIME you shop, online or in-store, I recommend that you check out Buxr. I can’t believe all the deals I missed since my last shopping excursion! Grrr!

Buxr also has nice widgets that you can make for your blog. The widgets show Hot Deals or whatever else you want to show. Sales generated through these links earn you commission! I have several niche blogs, so I can customize the widgets according to my blogs (for example, I can have a widget showing deals at Home Depot for my home improvement blog, etc).

The Final Freaky Frugalite Review: Buxr gets THUMBS UP from Freaky Frugalite! I think they have beautifully merged SAVING money and MAKING money. If you shop online a lot, you can no doubt save a good amount of money just by checking with Buxr first. And if you want to make some cash on the side, you can do it with Buxr. if you do decide to join, look for me, my username is RebeccaR. :D

P.S. I found this video at the site that explains Buxr in much more detail. It’s a little long, but it’s a great video. It shows how you can join, how to use the site, etc; and shows how well Buxr is organized and maintained.
