UNBELIEVABLE. I cannot believe this is for real, and it’s SOLD in stores.
How in the hell is this thing legal? We’re a bit confused, because the Spyder III Pro Arctic Series laser pointer is marketed as a “home theater projector” and yet the lightsaber-shaped implement will also set your skin on fire. The manufacturer Wicked Lasers proudly boasts that the Spyder III is “the most dangerous laser ever created,” and requires customers to sign a Class IV Laser Hazard Acknowledgment Form. That’s even easier than buying a rifle at a gun show.
According to Wicked Lasers’ site, “The Artic [sic] emits a 445nm cool blue, ultra high power 1W beam which appears up to [4,000-percent] brighter than the Sonar’s 405nm violet beam.” In addition, it includes this caveat:Warning: Extremely dangerous is an understatement to the power of 1W of laser power. It will blind permanently and instantly and set fire quickly to skin and other body parts, use with extreme caution and only when using the included eye protection. [sic]
For only $200 you can get your hands on your very own laser scalpel! As if laser pointers weren’t aggravating enough for airplanes, cats and movie theaters, now you can permanently blind and scar your friends with one, too…
Isn’t that insane?! I marvel at how wicked the human imagination can be. Man will create the most sophisticated devices to maim or destroy other humans, like atom bombs and gun silencers, but he STILL cannot create a quiet vacuum cleaner or dentist’s drill. :nonono:

Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I'm a freelance writer for national media outlets like USAToday.com, Salon.com, and others. I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

ROFL “but he STILL cannot create a quiet vacuum cleaner or dentist’s drill” hahahahahaha
I don’t think it should be illegal (the government really doesn’t need to regulate EVERYTHING) but who would buy this kind of thing?!?!? If someone is so dumb that they point it at their eye…maybe it’s good for the gene pool. 🙂

LOL, the gene pool, hahah!! But I’m not so concerned about the user’s eye.. but MY eye should it get in my face!
LOL, yeah, I don’t think it’s the Gubment’s job to illegalize/legalize everything… but I sure wish more lazy, apathetic people would take a stand!
