I won’t be around here much for the next few days. I’m taking my daughters to New York City, to accompany me to The Home Depot Light Bulb Showcase 2012. Woohoo! Hey, light bulbs are exciting! Especially now that the federal government is outlawing our beloved incandescent bulbs and making us all switch over to the “curlique” CFLs (which I dislike). The dudes at Home Depot have promised me they will make me JUST LOVE the new bulb technology. Hm, we’ll see. It’ll take some convincing…. but the cool thing is that I get a big bag o’ swag stuffed with light bulbs and other goodies! I seriously hope to learn a lot from this showcase, actually. I’ll be sharing all the cool things I learn on my home and garden blog, New York Renovator.
And to all you thieves out there, monitoring Twitter and blogs so you can rob an empty house: my husband and my two beefy sons will be at home, armed with clubs and two VERY ferocious-looking Yorkies. Beware.
Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I'm a freelance writer for national media outlets like USAToday.com, Salon.com, and others. I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

We use the CFL bulbs and I like them because 1-they last longer, 2-they save on electricity, 3-they look sort of cute now that I’m used to the curly look.

I’d be anxious to hear what you think about CFLs (and I presume, LEDs too) after this presentation. I did not realize HD takes it so serious as to setup a whole show. Bring back some pictures! 🙂

Enjoy the Big Apple! Home Depot is a great place to get some deals on CLF energy saving bulbs! My daughter just purchased a new home, and the home inspector made a suggestion on his report to replace the interior closet lighting with CLF bulbs for safety reasons.
