I saw this really neat meme over at Subjective Soup, and thought I’d do it. Don’t you just love how I butt in on memes?
1. Have you ever been on TV? Yes, a few times. When I was a drama student in Manhattan, there was a cattle call for actors who wanted to answer telephones on a live TV telethon. I can’t remember what the telethon was for, but Edward Hermann was there, and we got to say hello. We had to look happy and perky, and “pretend” to answer our phone if we hadn’t received a call within a few minutes’ time. I’ve also been on television news, in the “background” of a few newcasts in the past.
I was also an extra in the movie, “A Christmas Rose” which later became the TV series Touched By an Angel. I was a girl sitting in the church pews.
2. Have you ever sung in public? Yes. I went to drama school, and sang in loads of musicals. I’ve also done talent shows, etc. And I sang in my church’s worship bands for several years. I don’t sing much anymore. I kind of miss it, come to think of it.
3. Have you ever dyed your hair blonde? Nope. I have used Sun-In during the summer, though. I have dark brown hair, and as a kid I always had deep red highlights. But as I have aged, my hair has gotten a little lighter-colored (the stuff that isn’t gray, anyway), and when I use Sun-In, it no longer turns auburn, but a blonde color. Weird!
4. Have you ever eaten frogs’ legs? NO. Yuk. I’ve never eaten snails, worms, pigs’ feet, eel, chittnings, or anything ikky. I feel kinda weird even eating shrimp.
5. Have you ever received a present you really hated? I don’t think so, not that I can recall, anyway. I really appreciate people giving me anything! I usually remember exactly who gave me what and when, as well.
6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post? Now that’s a dumb thing I have actually never done before… wow. I found something!
7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people? Yes. I grew up in a big family, so lots of cooking is natural to me. When I first married, it was very difficult to break out of cooking for an army and just cooking for us two. I think I only just started to get out of the habit a few years ago. Now I have the opposite problem- with four+ hungry teens and all the other kids flocking in, I have to readjust and cook a lot once again. Arg!
8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others? Uh huh. One notable time was when I was in my seventh month of pregnancy for my first child. I was walking on a driveway and- WHOOP! Down I went, right on my hip. Everyone around me freaked out, but I and baby were fine. Very embarrassed, but fine.
9. Have you ever done volunteer work? Yes. My church gives food the the needy, and we help distribute it. I’ve also done things like Vacation Bible School, feeding little kids in Sunday School, visiting elderly and playing guitar, and etc. You know, I hate it when people complain about Christianity, saying the world is a wreck because of it. Christianity has greatly improved the world and society (not to mention that Jesus Christ has saved our souls!). As even Charles Darwin once said, “In a voyager to forget these things is base ingratitude; for should he chance to be at the point of shipwreck on some unknown coast, he will most devoutly pray that the lesson of the missionary may have extended thus far.”
I’m not going to tag anyone for this meme, since I “stole” it in the first place. But anyone who would like to do it, feel free to pitch in! Leave your link in the comment section.

Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I'm a freelance writer for national media outlets like USAToday.com, Salon.com, and others. I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

That is nice. Its kind of…umm. like reading your biography. hahahha
but very nice. I seldom read post on blogs unless it gotten my attention really.
I am a missionary here in the Phils. So when you said that you somehow volunteer work at your church… I kind of feel like telling who am I too. You know… working in one kingdom and with the same faith.
I, too work for my church fulltime for eight years, and now the Lord has brought to another level of service which is the mission field.
Hope everything is well with you and God bless.

I think “memes” are very cool to read. You get to find out interesting things about people. I’ve never eaten frog legs either. Totally yuck. But in the stupidity of my youth, I did eat snails. My God. Totally yuck! Cool meme 🙂
