We have a cockatiel who we’ve taught to cluck “Superchicken” and dance across his perch. (I’ll just have to get a video of it sometime now that I replaced my Canon Powershot with a “real” camcorder!). But I saw this cockatoo video and was wowed. This bird can really shake that booty! The caption written by the bird owner says:
Snowball is a medium sulphur crested Eleanora cockatoo and he loves to dance and sing. He loves the Back Street Boys. No one taught Snowball to dance…he just heard this song and suddenly felt like dancing. We’re all jealous because he can outdance each one of us…nobody likes a show off! When he’s really in the mood, he dances and sings. And at the end of the performance he takes a bow or two or twenty!! Enjoy the show.
Wow, they didn’t teach the bird to do this?! Well, he learned it somehow! He even has the Metallica head thrash perfected.
Yah, he’s a little off the beat sometimes. He reminds me of Steve Martin, just a little, in The Jerk (what a stupid movie, by the way!). In the movie, Steve, a “white guy” growing up in a black family, can’t keep rhythm with the rest of his beat-grooving folks. There’s one funny scene where he’s snapping his fingers completely off-beat. Drives me nuts!!!

Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I'm a freelance writer for national media outlets like USAToday.com, Salon.com, and others. I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

Oh my, I’d never go to work if I had such an enjoyable entertainer at home!!
It is also useful viewing for anyone cavalierly considering a cockatoo as a pet…”AHHHHHHHWWK!”
