The Midwest has been having horrible, torrential weather. It’s weather and flooding very similar to what Upstate New York experienced two years ago. I was watching a news broadcast about the flooding in Indiana and Missouri. My heart just goes out to these people who have lost EVERYTHING. Where are all the calls for aid for these people? Why is it that everyone and their mother wants to help Myanmar and China and Sri Lanka, but ignore your countrymen who have nothing but the clothes on their backs?
The sad thing is that these people’s homes were insured, but their insurance won’t cover the damages. Why? Because the insurance companies are calling these floods “100-year” storms. These people didn’t have flood insurance- how could they, they didn’t live in flood plains!- and so the insurance companies won’t help them. This is absolutely criminal, in my book. It’s disgusting that insurance companies charge such outrageous fees and then they won’t lift a finger to help you. These people have lost EVERYTHING. They should at least get all their premiums returned that they’ve paid to the insurance companies! Crooks.

Don’t even get me started on homeowner’s insurance. Last year I woke one morning to wet carpet near my vanity in my bedroom. I live in a duplex so after thorough checking, I thought it might be problem with my neighbor. I told them and showed them the wet area. They had their best friend who is a plumber come over and check out everything. Sure enough a pipe in their foundation had rusted. The plumber/friend had to drill down 2 feet to get the pipe and sure enough it had rusted. It caused water to seep up between the pipings and damage at least a 5 ft square area of carpet in my side of the house. The plumber/friend did lots of work and drilling to get it repaired. The @?%$#@?% insurance company wouldn’t pay one penny of the cost nor would they pay for the damage on my side. They also told me that my neighbor was not at all liable for any damages to my side. To say that my neighbor, our plumber/friend and myself were livid was an under statement. The scumbag insurance company said my neighbor didn’t have a clause in their policy that covered defective pipes in foundation. We were all furious to say the least. Can you believe this crock?? They will try anything they can do weasel out of any expenses and they will suck every penny out of the customer with premiums but when you need them, they could care less about your needs. Whew!!! I been wanted to get that off my chest for a long time. Actually the story is much longer but I couldn’t type it all here.
