Any of you Gen Xers remember Tron? I always think of that movie when I see these gadgets:

I finally figured out what that thing is. It’s a Bluetooth headset! I am a computer whiz, but when it comes to cell phones and mp3 players and all that “little” gadgetry, I’ve never been very interested. But, I had to get a new cell phone, and the thing comes with “Bluetooth capability!” Uh HUH. :thinky: So… I went to my local retailer (Wally World), to see how much one of these things would cost.

Wha?! $25?!?!?! For that little bitty thing?

Well, silly me! I went to Buy.com and voila! There it is on sale- the Bluetooth Plantronics 232 Headset, to be precise-for $11.99 and free shipping! (I have to confess, the word “plantronics” gives me the heebie-jeebies. I really don’t want to be Tron). But I love Buy.com! Aren’t they amazing?! I’m a real sucker for free shipping, not to mention, low prices, and Buy.com always has them. I love those guys!

So… how do ya wear the thing?! Does anyone know what to do with it? Do you just plug it into your phone, then plant the thing on your ear, and away we go? (Yes, I’m too lazy to figure it out for myself, lol- I write how-to articles all day! Sometimes I need someone else to tell me how to!).

It seems we are always multi-tasking these days. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but… I just don’t multi-task as well as I used to. But I don’t like to drive and talk on the cell (and neither do the cops), and I’m kinda hankering for a new gadget to tinker with. So I may bite the bullet and enter the gadget fad with two feet….

BTW, if you don’t get Buy.com’s email, be sure to sign up. I just got one and the prices are amazing. Last week, I saw an Apple iMac (refurbished) on sale for $300!!! It was totally gone by the time I got to the site to check it out. :( But this week they have webcams, an eMachine and Gateway computer, a D-Link switch, and more- really dirt cheap. The emails are a great way to get gift ideas, too. Just go to the site, and look in the left sidebar for their “Best Deals Alert” sign up widget.

Yes I remember Tron, very well. And I don’t have bluetooth. Not even sure if my phone could handle it. But I should get it. Just in case I need to make a phone call while in the car. Right?

I loved Tron. Sci-Fi has been a favorite since Buck Rodgers rode off on his toy rocket suspended on a piece of visible wire.

Since you asked for my expert opinion… here’s the way you use a Bluetooth headset:

First, obviously, you put it on your ear.
Now you are free to talk to yourself all you like, and no one will think you are weird! :D

As a side note, they’re great for talking on the phone while shopping! Everyone seems to do it. Haven’t you come across those people who walk by you and you think they’re talking to you… but they’re talking to someone invisible!

Sorry I can’t help with the technical side… because I don’t have one.
    ;)

I found this blog from Google and just wanted to say that I appreciate the reviews you wrote about on this webpage. I am considering about purchasing one myself.
