I HATE Google. I HATE them I HATE them I HATE them. Why is the whole world becoming subject to this crappy, selfish, small-minded control-freaked company?
Yeah, you can guess what happened. They killed my Page Rank on another blog. I was actually surprised to even get PR last time around, because it seems they have been targeting me, for some reason. I blog for pay on some blogs that I have, but not all the blogs that I have! And they make sure I never get PR. So that means decreased income for me.
I write nice blogs and they are read by hundreds of thousands of people every year. So advertisers ask me to review their stuff and put up their links. I’ve pledged to be honest and forthcoming in my reviews and opinions, but Lord Google doesn’t seem to care about honesty and intergrity. All they care about is their bottom dollar and their competing AdSense.
Google, I am a disabled mother. I am unable to work outside the home. I advertise on my blogs to earn a living and feed my children. Is that OK with you, Google? Can’t I still do this?
Google, your crappy PR system that you have elevated is arbitrary and deceptive. And when you strike me down, even though I have backlinks and good posts, I earn less money.
Google, my children need bread and milk. Google, may I please be allowed to get them some? I mean, IF it’s OK with you, of course. Because it seems I can’t do anything without your permission and acceptance. You’ve said you lower PR on monetized blogs to “protect” Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmo from finding “bad” and “deceptive” websites when they, for example, do a search for their medical problems. Yes, you PROTECT these people from “bad” websites. That is so lame, Google.
Google, I hope you are happy in your billion-dollar complexes, with your massage parlors, and fun rooms, and fancy teak think rooms. Because my refrigerator is getting empty, Lord Google. And you are making it emptier and emptier.
Thanks for nothing.

Well, well- my goodness: Taking on the Google God? Really, I have to just say that you are umm, well how can I put this nicely? You are absolutely CORRECT! The Google entity is a sponge absorbed with itself. It has no higher calling whatsoever than to suck up technology for personal gain. They are more than happy to interject Marxists ideology over the internet. Oh- and you probably don’t buy enough carbon credits to offset that evil refrigerator you run to keep food fresh for your family and they are aware of that. I mean what’s a Emperor to do with likes of you? LOL Keep your chin up and know many, many of us out here in the cyber world love ya and feel your pain.

Well put, Rebecca. I’m sorry you got on Google’s bad side this time around. You know I was hit under the belt this time, too…hurts a lot. I haven’t given up…but I sure wish the Google God would tell us if we were getting warmer or colder…before they lower the boom!
October 2nd, 2008 at 2:49 am
Well put indeed. My blogspot blog had somehow retained its pr2 last time around, even though it’s got almost exclusively posts with sponsored links, whereas the other one got slapped to 0. Go figure. They got it this time, though… LOL.
Joe Schmo must be one stupid guy to be needing protection from the likes of you and me and all the other blogging ogres out there.
Best of luck to you.

Oh no … you too? And it looks like this misery has more company!
A pox a Google! We should have a pity party for all who got the dreaded smackdown.
I’ll bring the margaritas for those who imbibe, and southern sweet tea for those who don’t.

AMEN! I’ve quit using most of their services because they’re all about Google, and only what’s good for their own bottom line. I’ve seen blogs that are less than 30 days old with only a few post get PR of 3+ and yet, there are those of us working our buts off to write good content, paid or not, who get slapped around. Google cannot even explain their own methodology and yet every one is bowing down to them. They’re crap! (sorry, now my blood pressure is going up!)

Oh dear I am so sorry to hear this. I truly don’t understand their system either.
I was away from my blog for almost 5 months. I just got back a couple of weeks ago. All of a sudden I am a PR4 and I haven’t even hardly posted anything.
But, I am paying with my Technorati rating. Even though I am receiving new fans almost daily my rating with them dropped almost 500 points.
I just don’t understand how any of this is determined. I hope when they do another evaluation your PR will go up again!!:-)

I would like to join in but I haven’t even ever had a page rank. I thought that’s why I can’t be accepted at payU2blog (I LOVE them but they don’t like me), because I have no rank and not enough readers. After reading these comments, I no longer know what I’m going for.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I can relate. My main blog used to have PR4 for months, then went to zero and still remain zero since then. It’s really annoying. I just hope 3P will get rid of PR thing…I don’t like it either.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Yep, you are so right! I do not understand at all why these places that are our means of making money are even looking at Google PR, everyone knows that their system is seriously flawed and unfair yet they keep going by it. My was 2 when my blog was brand new, then I started doing paid posting and it went to n/a (not ranked at all), and now it’s been at 0 for a while. I may not post every single day, but I try to post at least a few times a week. I don’t think I’m a brilliant blogger, but I think my posts are pretty decent. Yet I have seen blogs that go weeks at a time without posting, I’ve seen blogs where their posts are so bad they might as well be in another language, and yet because they don’t do paid posting they have a ranking of 1 or 2. I’ve even seen other blogs that do paid posting and aren’t even great blogs and they have a page ranking. So why are there so many of us with good blogs who get nothing but 0. They claim to have a formula, but how can they have one when there is no rhyme or reason to their rankings?
When I had a 2 ranking I was so new I only had a couple of people even reading my blog, now I have lots of views thanks to EC and a decent number of regular readers but am not worth anything? That just doesn’t make any sense.
oops sorry to ramble lol

Oh my, sorry to hear google got you down. Google is killing many people it seems. But google has never like my simple sites either.
Hope it get better for you real soon!
October 3rd, 2008 at 1:19 am
I hate to hear that, and I never realized the Google took such a dim view of paid posting. I don’t get that at all.
The only reason for that, I suppose, is to promote Adsense. Yeah, we’re all getting rich off of that, right?
October 3rd, 2008 at 11:27 am
Google is not a God. ^_^ anyway, sorry to hear that ur PR went down…
October 3rd, 2008 at 11:29 am
Amen! I feel your frustration! They took away my PR on my photo blog and I don’t even do paid posting on that one. I have a couple links I was compensated for, but only two and it wasn’t that much… and how do they know anyway? Are they reading my emails?
October 3rd, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Mine went up and I have no idea why. What Google gives, it can take away. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts but I am not holding my breath that my pr won’t go down or disappear all together the next time Google updates.

I see you have social bookmarking icons on your site. Have you been using social bookmarking software on this site?
Or submitting you own posts? Most sites that dropped heavily in PR did so due to social bookmarking misuse.
I have been predicting a social bookmarking slapdown for months and I belive it is here. Do not use social bookmarking software and do not continually submit your own site over and over.
Especially not to Digg. Contact me if I can help.

do you know what it is you are doing that they don’t like? I am guessing that they don’t like payperpost but I make decent money with them, is it worth the trade off?
what do you think they are getting you for?

I you do not responding to those that want to help you, si we can’t help you. I see alot of offers here but not any response from you.
Complain all you want but getting to the bottom of what you did is the way out. Then don’t do it again.
October 6th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Hi Chris. I wasn’t ignoring anyone- I get all comments emailed to me and I read them all. Sometimes I am unable or not wanting to respond.
I am a member of BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog. I don’t use Digg at all. My blog posts are Stumbled from time to time. I have backlinks, no duplicate content, etc. This blog always had a PR0, even before PPP or any other paid posting service. Same with a whole bunch of my other blogs.
Some of my other blogs are very valuable. The “real” PR for them is PR 6, PR 5, and PR 4. They were all taken away or downgraded, unjustly.
I have no social bookmarking plugins for a few blogs and they have PR0. I am convinced that Goog hates me. lol. kinda
I hope that helps sate your curiosity a little. I’ve been battling this PR battles for months- almost a year, actually. PR is an enigma, and ppl have all sorts of advice and much of it is contradictory.
Bottom line- waaaay too much weight is put on what “Google believes” a valuable site.

Great Rebecca, good to hear from you. First of all FRAK PageRank.
Just because it says so on the toolbar does not….
#1 make it true, you could have been a PR 0 for three months, toolbar PageRank is not dynamic it is a toy.
#2 PageRank means nothing as to how you are ranked. Did you drop in rankings on keywords that convert and what sites dropped?
That is the question. You could have dropped in PageRank months ago and not realized. But did your rankings drop and what sites were affected?
If you did anything that you do not want to admit to in public you can email me, you have it in the comment.
Otherwise we can track your problems down here online and it will help others as well.
If you want to keep it private we can do that too and it will jsut be between me and you, but my offer of help stands.
I can’t charge the big boys if I don’t learn from the real people like you and me.
October 6th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Hi again. I know about the toolbar PR. The problems lies with what advertisers are looking at. And they are looking at the toolbar rank. So in all reality, I may have a PR3 here, but on the toolbar it’s 0 and that’s what matters to advertisers.
I have heard that Goog doesn’t like paid posts nor paid links. But some people do paid posts and links a LOT heavier than I do, and they still have their PR. And Goog doesn’t seem to be too worried about the links they sell to get on their search engine pages… so I tend to believe the PR debacle is just a way for them to shout out the competition.
i appreciate your offer of help. Honestly, I don’t think there is much I can do. This is a year-long battle of frustration. I really don’t care where I stand with Page Rank- I care where I stand with advertisers. And the advertisers can’t seem to get it into their thick skulls that PR is a messed up system now, and that certain blogs have more PR value than their toolbar is telling them. And I am also angry at Goog for controlling and manipulating the exchange between blogger and advertiser like this.
