Creepy. 😮
Seven People Have Been Entrusted With the Keys to the Internet, says BBC and Gizmodo. Apparently, seven people from seven different countries have been endowed with Smart Cards. These Smart Cards are the “keys” to the Internet. If anything “catastrophic” happens to the Internet, these Lords of the Cards get together to a secret place in the United States to restore the realm.
Sounds REALLY weird to me. :wha:
The seven key holders are from the United States, Great Britain, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Trinidad, Tobago, and Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso???
Says Gizmodo:

A minimum of five people is needed because each of the smart cards contains only a fraction of the recovery key necessary to set things right again. This means that no single person will hold all the power to resetting our little cyber world.
Well, I disagree with that last sentence- who is the one who gave these dudes these cards?
…One card to rule them all…
:holycow:

Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I'm a freelance writer for national media outlets like USAToday.com, Salon.com, and others. I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.
