It’s been a busy weekend. We went to a Civil War reenactment on Saturday — our first ever! We’ve been traveling to historical sites for almost a decade now, can you believe we’ve never seen a reenactment? It was fun and we learned a lot. You can see my post about it on my travel blog if you want, at NewYorkTraveler.net.
On Sunday evening, we spent some time tending to the collateral damage left by the deer. The nasty creatures managed to get into my vegetable garden. The deer around here are supernatural. They even eat my thorny rose bushes. It’s impossible to beta them back so all I can do is fix their messes or deal with my losses. Weird thing is, I live in TOWN. You’d think they’d find more action in the country….
Anyway, now that’s it’s Monday, it’s time for the meme!

And now for this weeks Questions:
1. Finish this sentence - I had a great….
Shower. Well, seriously, that’s all I can think of right now. I just came in from the garden, yanking weeds and mending the garden fencing. It has been a very hot and humid day and we were out there sweating buckets for a few hours. By the time we were done, I was full of sweat, dirt and Off! bug spray. The last thing I wanted to do was get a shower- I felt like collapsing — but I made myself get clean. Feels great.
2. What is your favorite kind of soda pop?
I don’t drink soda that often. I guess if you pinned me down, I’d say ginger ale. But after hearing that certain soda companies have partnered with a company that uses aborted baby cells for “flavor enhancers,” I have quit soda drinking altogether.
3. What is your weather like today?
Right now, it’s a little humid. It’s cooling off after a hot and humid day. (I’m writing this on Sunday night). Forecast for tomorrow is another scorcher — 90 degrees with, of course, the customary northeastern humidity. Ick, when is December?
4. What is your favorite workout song?
Workout?
I have favorite music playing when I pray, though. Right now, I’ve been listening to Robin Mark’s stuff, and it is simply stunning. He is from Ireland, so his music has a Celtic flair and I love it! This is one of my favorites.
Now I have a question for you:
What is your favorite hymn?

Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side. Read more

Amazing Grace

I don’t really have a favorite hymn.

I would have to go with Ode to Joy. Heather @acting balanced tried to maintain the Meet Me on Monday during Java’s last sabbatical and got bashed for doing so. Hence, this meme.

I don’t know if I have a favorite hymn. Maybe Amazing Grace.
Is that “cell” thing an urban legend? I haven’t heard that one yet. I can’t believe that is really true.

Lin, as far as I know, that “cell” thing is not an urban legend. Forbes reported it but very few major media venues have touched the issue. The company is Senomyx. The company uses HEK 293 (human embryonic kidney) cells for genetic engineering research. Lots of companies use aborted baby parts for pharmaceutical research and products. There are no “baby parts” in the food, but the baby parts are used on a genetic level to test taste receptors and etc. Just the fact that a lot of the media is skirting the issue and many are downplaying the issue makes it absolutely insidious.

So many people like Amazing Grace! That’s not too shabby for a hymn written in 1650 or so!
