It’s only just a baby, but it’ll be all grown up before long. I created a new blog where I can be myself. No pressure to be glitzy, or fun, or entertaining, or pretty. No advertisers breathing down my neck with their demands for fast-paced, image-based content.
This blog is radically different from the others, so get ready.

It was partially created to test out a new domain name registrar I discovered (NameCheap). I like them, so far. The prices are right and they have been taking a major stand against SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) that threatens the Internet (more on that later). I will probably transfer all my domain names to NameCheap in the future.
As for This Mortal Life, it’s a pitifully simple and straightforward blog. It is here where I will write my thoughts about topics, particularly music and history and literature and art (my true interests and scholarly exploits). I explain the purpose of my blog in my post Rhyme and Reason. And I explain the creation of my author name, Polyhymnia, and the background of the header image and quote in my post, The Muse.
I know it’s a rather esoteric blog, not a populist type of venue that attracts a wide variety of readers. But it’s where I go when I am thinking and questioning things, where I can ponder radical ideas and delve into music and literature on a deeper level. If you find even a tiny bit interesting, that’s cool. It’s always nice to have companions for the journey.

Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side. Read more
