Have been doing a little driving this week (going to Home Depot, what, every other day right now :-p ), and I’m shocked at how aggressive the drivers are this time of year. I am not a slow driver, nor am I a fast driver. As a matter of fact, I tend to drive EXACTLY the speed limit. I guess that angers a lot of drivers. They cut in and out around me, tailgate me, and give me looks that… well, wow. So in frustration today, watching ANOTHER maniac SUV driver barely miss my back bumper as they jerk around my car and roar by, I exclaimed, “OKOKOK! Maniac! YOU GO first, then!” :rants:
And then I thought, What a brilliant bumper sticker that would make!

Of course, stuff like this only makes the kooks angrier. :hmph: Oh well. I can dream, can’t I?
Did you know that there have been actual studies about maniac driving? Here are the Top 10 Driving Pet Peeves:
- Distracted drivers talking on cell phones
- Slow drivers in the fast lane
- Pushy drivers who tailgate
- Drivers who weave through traffic to gain one or two car lengths
- Obnoxious drivers who speed up to keep you from changing lanes
- Hasty drivers who change lanes without signaling
- ‘Road Rage’
- Motorcyclists who race down the middle of a lane, between cars
- Women applying makeup and men shaving
- Drivers who leave their turn signal on for miles
One study even stated that EVERYONE hates tailgaters, cell phone talkers, road ragers, and drivers who won’t use their signal lights… but ALMOST NO ONE admits to ever driving that way. Don’t you think that’s kind of odd?
:hmmm:
Well, I don’t drive that way.
Nope. I’m the one who makes others drive that way.

Just yesterday I saw a bicyclist riding in the middle of the street in rush hour traffic in downtown Cleveland, not even wearing a helmet. He was just ahead of a bus-crazy!

I am sure I have done all of those things at one time or another. I remind myself that I have and surely the people who are doing them while I am driving the right way must be having an off day.
Bicyclists irritate me more than any thing else on the road. They have different rules apparently and don’t need to follow our rules. Too bad they just don’t get the fact that when push comes to shove my SUV will flatten them. They don’t seem to understand that I can’t stop as fast as they can.

I love the bumper sticker. I would definitely put it on my car. I am never going fast enough for other drivers around here. Never. Even if I am speeding a little, I can’t get out of their way! Not even in the slow lane. I ALWAYS use my turn signal. And I yell at every single person I see who doesn’t use theirs. They can’t hear me, but I do it for my own sanity.
