Sometimes our conversations get pretty funny around here. The boys were clustered around the computer this evening, watching my son David surf Google Earth. There were loud ooo’s and ahhhh’s from the group when David went to Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii.
Son David: Hey! Look at the ships here!
Jake: Oh cool! There’s Misery!
David: Misery?
Jake: Yeah, that battleship right there!
David: Oh, I think you mean Missouri!
[everyone starts laughing at the thought of a battleship named Misery.]
Me: The battleships were named after the states in the U.S.
Daughter Injane: So where’s the state of Misery? [still giggling]
Me: Well, they renamed it “New York.”
[everyone giggles again]
Husband, who has been quiet this entire time, finally says: Were there any other ships nearby?
[puzzled silence]
I burst out laughing: Because Misery just loves company!! Bwahahaaha!!
Husband: That should be Missouri’s motto for their tourism department.
Me: BWAHAHAHA!! Missouri Loves Company!

Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I'm a freelance writer for national media outlets like USAToday.com, Salon.com, and others. I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

Bwahaahaaaa that’s a good one!! I love puns big time, I would have loved to have seen this / participated! 🙂
btw I’ve been “corrupted” by my hubby; there was this punny joke with the punchline being “Thanks for the mammaries“, and ever since, I can’t say “memories” anymore, my mind overrides that and uses mammaries instead! ooops!

Hmmm … maybe I should send my husband to live with your family. Sounds like he’d fit in just fine. 🙂
