Fun

There’s a new blog in the blogosphere! It’s a great one to take the kids to. Dolphin Bubbles! It’s got very, very cute videos of dolphins from SeaWorld- they have been trained to blow bubbles! This is a great site to show the kids, as dolphins are amazing mammals. They are marvelously playful, and have been taught all sorts of tricks, as SeaWorld trainers have proved! Blowing bubble is the latest neat trick, and SeaWorld has a new blog all about their bubble-blowing dolphins. The dolphins were recently in the news on ABC’s World News with Charlie Gibson. Isn’t it great when a blog gets in the news?! The video is online- you can see it and read about it at the Dolphin Bubbles blog, or below:

I have always loved dolphins, ever since seeing Flipper as a kid. Boy, I loved that show. I have never seen a “real” dolphin.

Did you know that there are about forty different species of dolphins? And that it is believed that dolphins hear underwater through use of their jaw bone? And that some believe the dolphins’ teeth are arranged in a way that serves as an antenna to hear incoming sounds through echolocation? Dolphins are just amazing creatures and have such great personalities! Unfortunately, some people have used the dolphin’s natural sociability for evil- it’s been reported that dolphins have been trained by the military to search for ocean mines (although the military now denies this), and the Soviet Union has trained dolphins to kill (it has also been reported that they sold these dolphins to Iran).

I much prefer dolphins that jump through hoops and blow bubbles, don’t you?
