I’m participating in Renee’s Something Beautiful Meme.
I am happy about the snowfall we’ve had over the weekend, our first “real” snowfall of the season. I love snow. It’s a good thing, too, because we usually have about 5-6 months of winter here in Upstate New York. It’s so, so beautiful. The kids like it when the schools are closed, because then they can play outside.
Renee had posted a lovely video of Casting Crowns singing “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” It features a choir, and I LOVE the choral music. I did some searching around and found a video of one of my favorite boys’ choir groups, Libera. They are just incredible- they are from the UK; the boys attend a special singing school. I don’t know if they all attend a special boys school, as in preparatory school or not (such institutions are common in the UK), but the singers are replaced after a few years. As the boys grow older (and their voices deepen), they leave the group and new boys are included. They’ve made some albums over the years. The voices are heavenly.

please tell me why schools close when snow happens if you are supposed to be used to getting snow on a yearly basis?

Hey blueyes… the answer would be… ummm… cuz like…. the roads are slippery? lol I don’t anyone can get used to slippery roads on a year by year basis! When the snow comes down heavily at a certain time of the day, the snowplows cannot clear all the roads soon enough. So rather than have only half or a quarter of students in school, they close the schools altogether.
It’s like.. why do schools in the south close when there’s a hurricane? I thought everyone down there would get used to hurricanes on a yearly basis!

Oh yes, I love it when schools are closed! I love beautiful blizzards outside and a warm fire inside! I just don’t really like having to drive in blizzards!
That’s a really pretty song… I loved the choir in the Casting Crowns song that I posted. That really made the song. Thanks so much for linking up today!

The snow is creating real havoc in Northern England, the roads are now very slippery and many children have been injured walking on the icy paths at our local school.
