I just found a goldmine! It’s a software program called Stellarium. Wow wow wow! This is the coolest program since Google Earth! I have spent the better part of the morning checking out the program. I am completely wowed by this program!
It’s free and available for all operating systems (Linux, Windows, and Mac). It’s really easy to use and has so many features. I took some screenshots, but these pictures just don’t do the program justice.
I went Full Screen on a 19″ monitor and shut off the lights in the room. WOWOWOW! We had our own little planetarium in the living room! The program is stunning. Sorry, I know I am gushing, but this is just so cool. Great for homeschoolers. We are loving it. This program comes in the nick of time, too, because this weekend it’s too cold for the kids to go outside. So now they have something to do!
To the guys who compiled this program- KUDOS to you! You have done an amazing job with this! And thanks for offering it to us for free. God bless you!

Thanks for sharing! That’s so cool! We have a telescope that we haven’t taken out in awhile with two very small children, but we want to every day. We have a book called Turn Left at Orion that tells you how to find all sorts of neat stuff with the telescope…it’s pretty cool to think that when you look up into the sky, you’re looking into infinity…

Is that “real time’ star gazing?

Yes, it is real time. You have the option of seeing the stars anywhere in the world, too. Pretty cool!
