Thoughts Too Short for a Blog Post

Blabber

My pal Carole at Carole’s Thoughtful Spot (I love that blog name) sometimes writes blog posts titled “Thoughts Too Short for a Blog Post.” They are bite-sized blg snippets of musings, opinions, events, or, well, thoughts too short for blog posts! I find them always very interesting, and through them, I get to know Carole a little more (always a pleasurable experience). I thought I’d follow her example and write a post, too, because I also have lots of thoughts that are too short for a blog post!

I wonder if all the shed cat fur in the house goes directly into my computer keyboard… I cleaned and vacuumed my HP wireless keyboard and you wouldn’t BELIEVE all the cat furs that came up from under the keys. It was disgusting. I kept vacuuming and vacuuming and more and more fur kept creeping out! My keyboard looked like the Chia Pet of cat fur! You’d think Sasquatch was lurking below… YUCKO!

In other cat news, I came down to my office the other morning and discovered that my computer was on. I know I had shut it off last night. That bad Livvy must have scampered all over my desk, and her paw probably pressed the “on” button! The “on” button is in a bad place- I frequently, accidentally shut down the computer when I lean over and brush against touch the top. A lot of the computers I’ve had have poor “on” button placement. These manufacturers obviously do not have cats!

I recently purchased a very, very expensive Apple keyboard for a low, low price on eBay. I plugged it in and it worked OK, but it was filthy and some of the keys were sticking. Looks like someone had spilled soda on the very, very expensive keyboard! Things like that baffle me. If you’re going to spend a small fortune ($80) on a beautiful keyboard, why on earth would you drink soda pop next to it? And worse yet- why would you leave soda pop on it?! I de-stickified the keys by prying them off and cleaning the interior with a Q-tip; and fixed one key pad that was mangled (had a bent metal tab- I used a screwdriver to pinch it back into shape). All clean! Works great. It took me about 1/2 hour, tops, to do. And most of that time was spent trying to figure out why and what keys were not working.

Penny Raine gave me a Sunshine Award. Ain’t she sweet? :wubs: By the way, she’s having a great contest at her blog- Penny writes e-books about her homesteading family and she’s giving away a $75 gift certificate for the store! Nice! You can check it out here.

I’m very sporadic when I get awards- some I mention, and some I don’t. A lot of it has to do with time. Some days-weeks-months I am racing through, trying to cram in all that I have to do. I’ve never been very forgetful in my life, but lately, I’m forgetting things: appointments (oh dear), messages, losing track of the days! I’m not used to this and I feel a little lost. I think I need a secretary. My daughter, Alice, used to help me, but she’s become a young lady with her own interests now (even though she still does try to help her poor old mama with things!)

Speaking of blogs, I joined a new blog group called “Tribal Blogs.” I am familiar with a few of the bloggers, and I’m happy to see that some of my friends have joined, too. I like blog communities, but I participate sporadically only because things get so hectic here, in bursts. Blog-hopping is usually reserved for my leisure time, of which, unfortunately, I enjoy little these days. But Tribal Blogs is different than a lot of the *other* blog groups- Jen, the Head Honcho of the site, is very meticulous about what blogs are allowed in the group- no splogs, no make-money-online blogs, no crap blogs.

Tribal BlogsIt’s a breath of fresh air. I hope to participate a little more with the group, as there are many fabulous bloggers there.

I got an invitation from a big advertising firm this week, to come to New York City and meet with Walmart and Proctor & Gamble public relations dudes, for a special new event coming out. I was deeply honored and totally amazed that they asked me. I’m not “big time” at all. Maybe they like my corny humor? Unfortunately, I had to decline. I can’t get away to the city, and to be honest, I’m kind of uncomfortable meeting with professionals and other “big time” folks. I’m a homebody and I like the simple, quiet life. Of course, I’d love to land a multi-zillion dollar deal and promote stuff that I like, sure! I do, after all, have a rickety old house that needs renovating. I’m somewhat torn- am I missing the opportunity of a lifetime, just because I’m shy or don’t want to make an effort?

I set up a bird feeder outside my living room window so my cat could watch them (and maybe I could get her out of my hair for a while). But I sometimes find myself sitting in the chair next to her, enjoying the birds with her. As a kid, I was too impatient for birds. But my kids are bird-watchers, and I have discovered that I really like them, too. There’s a cardinal family that perches on the feeder and sometimes stops his pecking to look straight at me, watching him through the window. He cocks his head as if he’s curious (or maybe he’s wondering why I am just sitting there when I have deadlines, dirty dishes, and children’s worksheets to look over). Birds are amazing creatures. God mentions them many times in the Bible- I think birds are one of the crowning critters of creation. The boys and I did a study on their physiology, and they truly are amazing creatures!

Well, I could ramble on and on, but I’ll leave it at that for now. I have a few reviews to do and my carpet looks polka-dotted, it’s in such need of vacuuming. Thanks for reading. This was kinda fun!

I like watching the birds at my feeder too. A new found joy, I came into later in life.

Hope you enjoy a lovely weekend, just wanted to stop by and let you know YOU WON! I sent you an email. Congrats.

We have several feeders in our yard and my husband and grandaughter just love keeping them filled and maintained. It is fun to watch the birds and watch for the newly hatched ones in the spring.

Pssst. Go to NY!Drag someone along with you.

I LOVE the furry keyboard photo! It pretty much sums up our whole house.

I’m still getting in the groove with Tribal Blogs - definitely want to spend more time there, since it’s full of quality people, and the blogs I’ve visited from there that I hadn’t seen before are definitely head and shoulders above those I’ve run across elsewhere.

I think it’s great that you’re being courted by some big corps. I think you should keep an open mind to it. I know from my days of being a rock journalist and being courted by record label publicity and marketing folks that it’s worth listening to the pitch, and you can always say no, or ask for something different.

I usually can’t stick with anybody’s post that is more than a paragraph long, but I read this whole thing and enjoyed it.

Maybe it is too presumptious of me to say you should go to New York? I love that place!

LOL, thanks for the shoutout and the very kind words! It was really fun to read YOUR thoughts that were too short for a blog post! 😀 That pic of the furry keyboard was HILARIOUS! My husband had to actually take apart the back of my computer and pull dog/cat fur out of where the heatsink for my computer is because it was overheating. Hate pet fur!!!

  6. Penny Raine Says:

Wow, that was kinda like a pot-luck supper and a potpourri of thoughts. :) I am still waiting on the haw, hoq, hiwwwww, HOW to clean keyboards article, mine needs help. LOL
    be blessed, Penny
