Thoughts Too Short For a Blog Post, #4

Fun

Why do computer monitor manufacturers place the settings buttons on the bottom right hand side of the monitors? It’s not a good place, I believe. I am right-handed (as are most people), so I use my mouse with my right hand. I am always banging the bottom of all my monitors with my hand as I reach for the mouse. When I bang the monitor, I always bang those blasted buttons, too, which sets off the settings menu right in the middle of the screen, which interrupts what I am doing on the computer. I then have to find the button I accidentally hit to get rid of the menu! It’s a constant irritant. Why can’t monitor buttons be placed at the center top, or on the left hand side, or in the back of the monitor?? How often do we use these settings buttons that we need them right in our faces? Does this happen to you, or am I the only strange one?

I just celebrated the 3 year anniversary of my independent professional blogging business. Well, I call it a “business,” but that’s a slight overstatement. It’s not like a traditional business, but I consider myself self-employed. The best move I made was getting off Blogger and going to my own wordpress website hosting for my blogs. It really gives you a lot of clout in the eyes of advertisers. I recently counted how much I made off my one travel blog just in banner ads alone, and I made $1,000 off it this year! That was well worth the investment of $100 for 1-year’s hosting. Money like that really helps pay the bills! If you’re interested in getting your own “pad” for your blog, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll email you.

He’s back.

PossumBack

The possum. ARG!!! I mentioned in an earlier post about this knucklehead possum sauntering into our basement every night, eating the cats’ food and making a mess of things. After his Big Scary Night in which we physically dumped him out of the basement, The Hubs thought the possum wouldn’t come back. But he did. :S He wouldn’t come out of the corner for us, so we left him there (the POSSUM not the husband, haha!). He was gone in the morning. From now on, we have to barricade the pet door to the basement. Milo Cat is always in there for his supper, but Fuzzy Cat is sometimes still hanging out with the ruffians (and we think he’s the one who brought the possum here in the first place). So Fuzzy is sometimes locked out of the basement. What an incorrigible cat!

My son got a Fender telecaster guitar for a Thanksgiving gift. He plays it ALL. DAY. LONG. His riffs haunt me as I sleep- I can’t get those songs out of my head, gah! But he’s a Mozart, a literal prodigy. I never knew a child prodigy before. But this kid and music- oh my word. It’s a little scary how quickly he picks up a song. He hears it once, and can play it on the guitar. And he plays AMAZING. He’s almost as good as my husband who has been playing for 30+ years. The other kids are exceptionally musical, too- it seems they all just went into lightspeed with musical talent. One year, they’re practicing Mel Bay drills, the next year they’re cranking out songs. Whoa. It threw me for a loop, like “What the heck happened??”

Well, that’s all my thoughts for now! What’s been happening with you?

Computer buttons…always in the wrong spot. You’re not the only one. Thankfully, my laptop doesn’t have buttons anywhere near the screen.
And BTW, tell your son to keep up the good work on the guitar. Give him the benefit of the doubt, cause when you start playing the guitar, it’s really hard to stop. :)
      Thanks for the post.

Okay. “He” has a name: Orville.

Know who I mean? The fleabag on the snowblower…

BTW, Mr. Tele plays WAY better than me!!!!!!

I’ve used a laptop for the past 5 years, so no more issues with the buttons :)

You should be happy he’s so talented. Imagine having that guitar being played all day by someone with no talent :D

Since we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, we’re just enjoying a normal November weekend.

Hi, Ramona! CUTE picture. I like the portability of laptops, but they are too slow for me. ;) The desktop models are monsters, but I love them. I also LOVE HP monitors, but I wish they would move the dumb buttons! Have a pleasant November weekend. :D

You sound like my kind of person. I have a relationship blog and I will soon have a parenting blog. I like what I have seen on your blog. I would love to have you write a relationship tip on my blog. If you have a picture of you and your husband that would be great.
