Culture

Perhaps the greatest dichotomy between the religions of the world and Christianity is that in other religions, people are required to perform all sorts of hoops and hurdles to earn a higher place; but with Christianity, it is God Himself who has done the work.

He has given us peace and fellowship with Him according to His own doing. In other words, He made the way for us. His resurrection from death is the evidence. If you desire to know more about this evidence, maybe you’d want to check out a very good book by Lee Stroebel called The Case For Christ. It’s very readable, and his presentation is excellent. I urge you to at least consider the evidence.

I know I have readers who come from all corners of the world, of all sorts of religions. I challenge you to take a good look at yourself and your own religion. Christ rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and He will be coming back in the same way He returned.

…Him I proclaim to you: God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. Paul of Tarsus, Acts 17.

…when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord God has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

Yet it pleased the Lord God to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord God shall prosper in his hand.

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53

He is risen indeed! It’s so mind boggling and wonderful. Our Good Friday service was so moving and just amazing! I love Easter services and lookd forward to attending tomorrow. My favorite Easter hymns are “Up From The Grave He Arose,” “We Serve a Risen Savior” and “Because He Lives.” I was saved on an Easter Sunday many years ago but will never forget how the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart that day as I heard about Christ’s death on the cross for me!

“He is not here, for he is risen” was the first verse that I ever memorized some 36 years ago. It is so totally amazing what happened that day when Jesus was crucified and then when He arose.

  3. Matt Keegan Says:

Inasmuch as I love Resurrection Sunday, I can’t wait ’til the Second Advent! That event will surpass all others combined, a time when those who love the Lord will be united together in Christ forevermore.

Meanwhile, I’m practicing the “patience of the saints” relying on Jesus to comfort me while we watch and pray.

    Amen!
    He is risen indeed!

    Hi Rebecca.
I´m a Christian too but I like to think about Jesus out of the cross.
    Happy Easter!
